Mesothelioma
Also Known as malignant mesothelioma, is form of cancer that develops from the protective lining that covers many of the body's internal organs, the mesothelium. It is usually caused by exposure to asbestos. when asbestos fibers are inhaled or ingested and become lodged in human tissue, causing inflammation or infection. Approximately 2,000 to 3,000 cases of mesothelioma are diagnosed each year in the United States, comprising around 3 percent of all cancer diagnoses.
People who have mesothelioma may have inhaled asbestos particles, or they have been exposed to asbestos dust and fiber in other ways.
